ABOUT THE LODGE

What we are

Freemasonry is a members’ organization that has thrived for over 300 years. Having no political or religious affiliations, we comprise members of all ages, races, religions, cultures and backgrounds.

We gather to foster brotherhood and engage in meaningful dialogue. Our lodge provides a space where individuals from all backgrounds and walks of life can find unity and work together for the betterment of society.

We meet in our individual lodges throughout the country, where our ceremonial traditions encourage us to be more tolerant and respectful and actively to fulfil our civic and charitable responsibilities. We also make time to eat, drink and meet together, and form lifelong friendships.

OUR HISTORY

Our lodge’s history

Green Lake Lodge first met in October 1905 and received its charter in June 1906.

  1. 1905

    A lodge takes shape

On June 3, 1905, Worshipful Brother Fred Weyant and a number of brethren, several of whom were members of Doric Lodge No. 92, presented a resolution asking Doric Lodge to sponsor a new lodge in the Green Lake area. The first meeting was held on the evening of October 3, 1905.

  2. 1906

    Our charter is granted

In June 1906, at the session of the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Washington, a charter was granted, establishing Green Lake Lodge No. 149, Free and Accepted Masons.

  3. 1922

    A new temple

The Green Lake Masonic Association was formed in 1921 with the goal of building a new temple. On February 25, 1922, the cornerstone was laid with due forms and ceremonies. On June 29, 1922, the new temple was formally dedicated.

Green Lake Lodge No. 149 saw its membership peak at over 700 members after World War II. While our numbers are not that robust today, we have received a renewed interest in the fraternity over the past several years. Attendance at meetings and fraternal events continues to climb.
